Oreo Brownies

I've seen a lot of Oreo brownies on the web recently. So much so that I had to make them too, naturally! (With double stuffed Oreos of course!)

I decided to go with the Oreo stuffed brownie technique. They were the perfect finger food for a picnic dessert. They also look really cool before cutting into squares.
I hope every one's summer is going well! PS These brownies go well with vanilla ice cream!
Supernatural Brownies (basic brownie recipe from the NY Times - oreo addition from my mind)
2 sticks (16 tablespoons) butter
8 ounces bittersweet chocolate
4 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup dark brown sugar, such as muscovado (Erika's Extra Note: light brown sugar works fine as well)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 bag of double stuffed Oreos

1. Butter a 13-by-9-inch baking pan and line with buttered parchment paper. (Erika's note: This recipe is so buttery I've never needed to use parchment paper.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In top of a double boiler set over barely simmering water, or on low power in a microwave, melt butter and chocolate together. Cool slightly. In a large bowl or mixer, whisk eggs. Whisk in salt, sugars and vanilla.

2. Whisk in chocolate mixture. Fold in flour just until combined.

3. Pour in HALF of the batter into prepared pan. Line batter with Oreos. Pour rest of batter over Oreos and make sure they are completely covered.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until shiny and beginning to crack on top. Cool in pan on rack.

Note: For best flavor, bake 1 day before serving, let cool and store, tightly wrapped.
Bake well and prosper!

  1. ooof! I think you just started a fight in our kitchen. :) LOOK SO GOOD! thanks for sharing!

  2. that looks so impressive!! i'm sure ppl 'oohhed' and 'aahhhed' when you slice the brownies to reveal the secret weapon! ive actually not heard of double stuffed oreos until now...hahhaha, only in america!

  3. This sounds amazing and looks so great:) Oreos are a relatively recent biscuit on the shelves here in Aus, and my oldest (8) has been asking for a packet for the longest time - when she finds out there is such a thing as a 'doubled stuffed' version stateside, she may be asking for her passport;)

  4. These look to good to eat! Actually if I had one in front of me I would only probably look at it for a few seconds before temptation took over and I ate it. I have a weak spot for chocolate and oreos! What a perfect combination!

  5. Ha! It looks like chocolate filled bubble wrap :) now that would be a yummy distraction toy! But anyway what i really wanted to say was that these brownies look DELISH and would indeed make a wonderful picnic item :) lovely recipe as always

  6. Thanks for all the comments! I find it incredible that some countries don't have double stuffed oreos. They've been around for years here in America. Once you go double stuffed it's hard to go back to normal. lol

  7. These brownies are fully packed with my favourite, Oreo!!! Got to bookmark this recipe. Thanks, Erika! This recipe is fantastic!

  8. I never bake. I think I need to bake this. Like NOW!!!!!

  9. I have seen a lot of brownies too lately, and these ones look delicious. I great take on the stuffed cookie idea!

  10. Looking at those beautiful slices, you know that biting into one is going to be loads of fun! Two great treats turned into one... i like it!

  11. Hi Erika,

I did my 1st half marathon yesterday and managed to complete it within 2 hrs. I'm happy with my achievement. Thanks you so much for your encouragement.

  12. Oh yum I'm actually about to make a version of Oreo brownies for a friend's bday. Yours look really really good!

  13. Oh...just incredible!! I want one now!! :D

  14. My local supermarket just started to stock double stuffed oreos..and believe me when I say I'll never go back to normal oreos again! Your brownies look so delicious :-)

  15. arfff... oreo in a brownie! I want some now!!

  16. After being told by my Kindergartner that he wanted to bring Oreos for his first class snack, I thought that I would be doomed for the year. I love to bake, and baked all of my older son's class snacks. Then I saw this recipe. I am now in love with it and will probably do more for Cub Scout parties (with the different "holiday" Oreos for color). Thanks a bunch from the Lone Star State.

  17. Stephanie - Using holiday colored oreos is such a good idea. (Your welcome - from a daughter of the Lone Star State.) :)

Thanks for taking time to leave a message! xo - EB
